President's Message

In 2005 the “Voice of Children” was heard loud and clear - and we responded with new grants, programs, psychiatrists, staff, and Board members. All joining together to be the “Voice of Children.” Many exciting milestones were achieved, as we received a grant from the Dave Thomas Foundation to provide adoptive homes to children in long term foster care; the placement of several newborns with adoptive parents, and the opening of our BridgeView Facility (our Residential Treatment Facility) in November 2005, just to name a few.

Making a difference in our community is extremely vital. By opening BridgeView, our Residential Treatment Facility, we made it possible for the most severely emotionally challenged children in our community to receive the care they need. With any facility of this nature, there will be challenges, and we strive to meet and overcome these challenges so that we can provide the services needed for these children.

We look forward to 2006 with great excitement. In 2006, the “Voice of Children” will continue to ring strong, as our community implements Health Choices. Effective in April, the Department of Public Welfare will implement this initiative, which will manage Medical Assistance dollars. This will be a significant impact to all providers. It will be a new way of managing dollars and a new way of meeting the needs of our community. Like everything else, it will take the community working in partnership to make this program successful.

With nearly 600 staff and a budget that exceeds $17 million, we will continue to serve children and their families with creative, effective and innovative services. It is our strong belief that in serving children we serve the community. But none of what we do would be possible without our great Board and Staff - people who lead, people who serve, people who care. Because of their dedication and caring commitment, the Children's Service Center will be able to build a brighter future for children, adolescents, and their families.
